Luke 1:26-34 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, 27to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. 28Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!”
29Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. 30“Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! 31You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. 33And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!”
34Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”
Did you ever think, what if Mary said no? We don't know why God chose Mary to be the earthly mother of His Son, but he did. Was she qualified, I don't know, did God qualify her? absolutely!! Mary was obedient and though I am sure she had a lot of questions and was totally confused, she still said yes. The angel told her not to be afraid. God had found favor with her. Wow, acknowledgement that God had found favor with you. She was obviously living her life for the Lord.
Are you living your life for the Lord? Are you telling God no? Think about the little things He has asked of you. It's not like He is asking us to bear Him more children, but in a sense He is. He wants us to proclaim the Gospel to all the world so that He can have more of His children back in His midst. He accepts us and adopts us without question if we simply come to Him. So I ask again, are you saying no to God? Try saying yes and see how many children you can bring to the Lord. Be like Mary and say yes, walk in obedience even when you have questions.
I am a child of God, a wife, a mother, a missionary, a supervisor, a servant and most recently, a Pastor.
