As I read Psalm 139, it occurs to me that his entire Psalm could be SOAPed. You NEED to read this Psalm and meditate on the whole of it. From the very beginning where it is made real that God "examines" our heart. That statement alone makes you rethink your day to day motives. He knows everything we do and His hand is upon us. This Psalm brings to life the simple fact that we can not hide from God. He knew us in the womb, what could we possibly be thinking if we thought we could hide anything from Him. Please, if you haven't done so, go and read the entire Psalm 139 now. It will change your day at the very least.
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
O - If I am inviting God to search within me and to have full knowledge of any anxious thoughts I have, then I have to be prepared for any correct He is about to offer. In verse 24 is says to point out anything that offends Him. If God himself is going to be the one offering constructive criticism, you better be ready to make some changes. It is comforting to know that His corrections in my thinking will lead to the path of everlasting life and keep me on that path.
A - I will ask God regularly to search my heart. I will ask God to make the necessary corrections in my heart and in my thoughts so that they always honor Him. I will ask God constantly to put me on and keep me on the path that leads to everlasting life. I will keep my heart right and my thoughts in line and know that He is the light to the very path I want to take.
P - Thank you God for knowing my heart. Thank you God for correcting my thoughts. Thank you God for always searching within me and taking that which doesn't belong and replacing it with your Love. Thank you God for always setting me straight and bringing me back to your path. Amen.
