As we get ready to start a new year, many of us are tired and weary and looking for a fresh start. Jesus has offered that to us. It is free, give Him your burdens, let Him carry your worries. Take a load off and sit down and relax. He has got this, whatever it is. You can breath, you can rest, you can be sure that whatever your troubles, they are in the best hands. Notice the first part of the verse though, "Come to me" In order to give our troubles and burdens to the Lord and to allow for our rest, we must first come to Jesus. It is a simple step for such a great reward. So when you are feeling at your worst, you have an answer right in front of you. Come to Jesus.
O - Jesus is telling us, you don't have to do this alone. Give me your troubles and let me handle things, take a break. We try to do everything ourselves and without Jesus and we grow weary.
A - I am learning to give everything to Christ each and every day. By doing so, I am more rested, I worry less and consequently I am far less weary. I am slowly learning to stop depending on myself so much. Jesus has offered to do so much for me and I simply have to let him.
P -Thank you Father for taking on my troubles, thank you Father for allowing me to rest while you carry the load. Thank you for you Son who took on the biggest load of all, the sin of the world. Because of that, we can all rest more easily. I pray that I am always dependent on you first for my strength and my rest. In Jesus' name, Amen.
