Even though, I was getting my coffee, praying and reading God's word, there was a big difference in how I felt, how my day would go. The days that I took time and sat down and enjoyed both my coffee and my God, would be far better days. Let's face it, we can't get our fill of God's nutrients on a God to Go diet. God's word was not meant for take out, to be something on a check list just to get done. We are meant to meditate on His word, to wait on him.
Joshua 1:8 8Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
Romans 15:4 4Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
When you are rushing around, gulping down your coffee, scarfing in your breakfast and scanning your Bible, you don't truly get to savor any one thing you are doing. Now think about this, if you sit down in a nice comfy chair, get a big steamy cup of coffee, fix a nice breakfast of your choice and open up your Bible; now you can settle in for a true experience with God. You can savor the coffee, taste the food and get to know God, one on one. Our time with God should never be the equivalent of rushing by a co worker and yelling hi how are you when you don't really want to stop and hear the answer. Our time with God is a time to give him our undivided attention, to thank him, to praise him, to listen for him, to apologize to him, to let him love us. We need to have good time with God not "to go" time with God. God is a sit down meal not a drive through, fast food word.
Think about your personal time with God and decide, are you living on God to go? What can you do to change that diet and receive so much more? Let Him fill you with all your needs and satisfy you in every way of life, you'll never want to just drive thru again.
