S - Mark 5:19 But Jesus said, “No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.”
O - We need to tell everyone, including our family, regardless of how difficult that may be, exactly what God has done for us in our lives.
A- I will find the time to tell my family how great and faithful God has been to me. I will make sure they are aware of how important it is to have Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. There are so many ways to communicate in today's world that I don't have an excuse.
P - Father I pray that I am able to reach every member of my family with your Good News. I pray that each seed planted becomes a fruitful harvest. I pray for the salvation of my family and friend that have yet to come to know you. I also pray that if I can not be the one to plant the seeds that you would put another in their path that they could receive from.
As I sit here knowing that I should be doing my devotions and have my time with God, I keep getting distracted. Has that ever happened to you? Heck, posting this "Random Thought" is one of the distractions I am talking about. I had just opened my Bible to read my devotions and it occurred to me that I should post this. I have been praying but it has been broken prayer. I am praying while I get up for a cup of coffee, praying while I talk about the needs of the kids at Canica with a fellow supporter, praying while thinking about my book and ways to promote it. Indeed, I am praying but is it really the quality time that God wants from me? I doubt it. Do you ever go through this type of distracting prayer time? Am I the only one? Somehow I doubt it. I realize that God simply wants us to come to Him, but I also know He wants us to wait on Him and to study Him and to know Him. I can not do that while I let the junk interfere with my time with Him. It is time to turn off the distractions and give Him the quality time He deserves. Wouldn't I think it was rude if I was trying to have a conversation with you and every time some other thought popped in your head, you put me on hold so to speak? Of course I would. Why should I treat God in the way that would offend me. I do not want to be offensive to Him. So, I will end this "random thought" and give my time to God. When I am done, I will post again and will most likely have a great SOAP discussion for you. Because God is so faithful that way. I need to strive to be as faithful to Him as He is to me.
S - Proverbs 2:6 For the lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
O - God is all knowing. God is the very source of knowledge. We can come to God for understanding in all things.
A - I will ask God first. I will count on the understanding that He provides me and thank Him for the knowledge that He gives.
P - Thank you father for the ultimate instruction book for all things in life. Thank you for always being faithful in giving me understanding and knowledge when I come to you first. Thank you for revealing yourself to me when I see your wisdom before taking steps on my own. Lord, please always continue to grant me these gifts. In Jesus Name. Amen
As we are entering the Christmas season, this is one of the easiest times to introduce someone to Jesus. He is our Savior and we should want everyone to know Him. This is the time to explain why He is the greatest gift of all. Don't worry about all the excuses people will pile upon you as to why they don't want to hear it or why they can't go to church. Just plant the seeds and pray for the harvest. But at the very least, plant. Without that little thought nagging them in the back of their head, they may never think about Jesus on their own. So be an example of the love of Christ. Accept people for who they are without compromising who you are. If you yourself are not sure you can be accepted by Jesus, I want you to know, He can help anybody. You can never clean yourself up enough to come to Him first. Come to Him as you are and let Him clean you up. That is what people don't get, He will forgive you, He will clean you up, He will offer you salvation and a whole new life. There is nothing like it. You will all of a sudden understand terms like "saved", "born again" and "made new". It is so awesome to live for Jesus. I am posting a video by Natalie Grant titled "Clean". This song says it all about coming to Jesus just how you are and the gift He has for you.
S - Phil 1:20 For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die.
O - Paul is never ashamed of who he is in Christ. He is always bold for Christ and always wants to bring honor to him both in his life and in his death.
A - I will never be ashamed of being a Christian or my love for Jesus. I will continue to live my life boldly for Jesus. I want people to see Christ in who I am and to even say they found Jesus because of me after my death.
P- Thank you Father for giving me your Son. Thank you for allowing me to speak boldly to others about all that He has done in my life and for my life. I pray that I am never ashamed to be a follower of yours and that my boldness always shines through in my actions, thoughts and deeds. I pray this to be true as I live and as I die.
S - Mat 11:28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
O - Jesus is telling us, He can handle everything. There is no issue or problem too big, just give it to Him. Once you have taken off that load, you will be allowed to rest and enjoy life.
A - I will give you all my burdens Jesus. I will run to you anytime something is to big to handle or carry. I will come to you even if it is a small request. My strength comes from resting within you. I am strong because I do not have to carry my burdens alone.
P - Thank you Jesus for lifting the weight off my shoulders, for easing my mind, and for taking on my troubles. Thank you Lord for allowing me to rest while you do all the work. Thank you Lord for carrying me when I was weary and thank you Jesus for the "rest".
S - I Thes 5:18 18Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
O - All circumstances is the key here. This verse does not say to only be thankful when times are good. We are even told that this is what God Himself wants from us.
A - I will be and have been thankful in every circumstance. I will constantly look for God in all aspects of my life and what I do.
P - Lord, please always show me who you are in every circumstance of my life. Help me to see you at all times, good and bad. Help me to know that I have every reason to be thankful for all you do in my life. I am thankful that I can praise you regularly. Amen
